A new platform for emerging and established Australian designers officially launches, with a mission to reconnect design practice to feeling, place, and community.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Melbourne, AU โ The Feeling Designer, a platform for emerging and established Australian designers, officially launches today with a mission to reconnect design practice to feeling, place, and community. Founded by Jessica Watson, the platform positions itself against purely commercial, ego-driven design environments and promotes more meaningful, place-connected and human-centred design methodologies.
About the platform
The Feeling Designer delivers its work across three audience groups: design practitioners (via workshops, events, and coaching), corporate clients and design studios (via consulting engagements), and high school and university institutions (via speaking engagements and workshops).
The broader purpose is to build and sustain community, create dialogue, and encourage design methods that better connect people to place in Australia.
Key areas of practice
- Co-design and participatory methods
- Country-centred design
- User journey mapping and service design
- Futures design and designing for joy
- Storytelling and narrative design
- Sense of place and embodiment practices
Quote from the founder
"Australian design has a particular responsibility to the land it sits on and the people it designs with. The Feeling Designer is an invitation to practise that responsibility out loud โ with rigour, with warmth, and with each other."
