Can feelings enhance the way we design in Australia?

We say, yes! The Feeling Designer is an initiative to explore the next gen practises and people pushing the boundaries in human- and life-centred design to affect change in Australia.

The Feeling Designer is a platform for emerging and established designers to transform the way we design in Australia, by starting with ourselves.

The goal of The Feeling Designer is to teach, share, and harness the power of social and emotional well-being to create spaces and experiences that foster inclusion, belonging, and a sense of identity that reverberates through generations.

It delivers this content in three ways:

Firstly, for designers, including small group practice workshops, events and coaching. Secondly, for corporate clients including design studios, includes workshops and consulting. Thirdly, for High School / University educational institutes includes speaking engagements and workshops.

In each audience group, the aim is to build and sustain community by creating dialogue and ongoing conversations about how design can better connect us to our place here in Australia, and how new design methodologies can help bring more feeling to our people and our places.

The explorations of The Feeling Designer include exploring the design practises of co-design, Country-centred design, user journey mapping, futures design, designing for joy, storytelling, narrative design and sense of place.

The Feeling Designer also explores how personal embodiment practises, such as meditation, visualisation, somatic exercises and connecting to Country can be used as part of design practises as techniques to achieve more meaningful and purposeful design briefs and outcomes.

In totality, The Feeling Designer aims to create a support network for designers and educators who are seeking more meaningful and purposeful ways to connect with ourselves, our people and our place here in Australia.

And build a purposeful career along the way!
